Concrete Pickleball Court

Concrete Pickleball Court Construction North Port

Built for Play. Poured for Performance

Pickleball isn’t just a passing trend — it’s one of the fastest-growing sports in America, and it’s here to stay. Whether you're building a backyard pickleball court for your family, or you're a city planner looking to expand public recreation space, it all starts with the same thing: a rock-solid, properly built concrete court.

At North Port Concrete Pro, we specialize in pickleball court construction that checks all the boxes — level, durable, low-maintenance, and built to exact specs. We don’t just pour a slab and slap on paint. We prep, pour, and finish with care, because a great court doesn’t just happen by accident. It's built.

What Makes a Good Pickleball Court?

You can play pickleball on a driveway or a tennis court — but when you play on a properly constructed pickleball court, you feel the difference. Here’s what we focus on when we build:
  • Perfectly flat surface with proper drainage
  • Regulation court dimensions and layout
  • Smooth playing surface with grip
  • Durable coatings that resist weather and UV
  • Correct slope to prevent puddles
  • Optional fencing, nets, and lighting

Concrete: The Best Surface for Pickleball
There are a few ways to build a pickleball court — but we believe concrete is king. It’s strong, low-maintenance, and holds up way better than asphalt in the long run.
Why Concrete?
  • Longer Lifespan – Concrete lasts 30–40 years with minimal maintenance
  • No Soft Spots – You won’t get sagging or warping over time
  • Consistent Bounce – A well-finished concrete surface gives reliable ball response
  • Weather Resistant – Stands up to rain, heat, and hurricanes
  • Easier Repairs – Crack repair is straightforward if needed down the road
We pour concrete courts right the first time — thick enough, reinforced, and finished to perfection.

Court Dimensions & Layout
We build regulation-size pickleball courts as well as custom backyard variations depending on your space.
Official Court Size (USAPA Standard):
  • 20 feet wide x 44 feet long (playing area)
  • Minimum total area: 30 feet x 60 feet (recommended for safety/runoff)
  • Ideal area: 34 feet x 64 feet (for more comfortable play)
We’ll work with your space and make sure you get a court that’s sized right, marked clearly, and plays smooth from baseline to kitchen line.

Our Pickleball Court Construction Process
Here’s how we handle a pickleball court build, step-by-step:
1. Site Evaluation & PlanningWe inspect the area, check the grade and soil, and figure out drainage. No two sites are alike, so we plan accordingly.
2. Excavation & Base PrepWe dig to the right depth (usually 6–8 inches), then lay down a compacted gravel base for stability and drainage.
3. Forming & ReinforcementWe set clean forms, check slopes (typically 1% for drainage), and install rebar or wire mesh to prevent cracking.
4. Concrete PourWe use high-quality 3,500–4,000 PSI mix, poured to a minimum of 4” thick — 5” or more in colder climates or heavy-use areas. No shortcuts.
5. FinishingWe smooth the surface with a steel trowel and give it a light broom finish — enough grip for safe movement, but not too rough on pickleball shoes.
6. CuringWe allow proper curing time to avoid surface issues and ensure strength. This step matters — and we don’t rush

Backyard Pickleball Courts
Thinking about building your own backyard court? You’re not alone — families across the country are turning open yard space into fun, low-maintenance play areas.
We’ll help you design a court that fits your space and budget, with room for:
  • One full court or a half-court
  • Adjustable net height (for tennis too)
  • Multi-sport options (basketball or volleyball)
  • Custom colors and striping
A backyard pickleball court adds value to your home, encourages activity, and becomes the go-to hangout spot for friends and neighbors.

Public & Community CourtsWe also work with:
  • HOAs
  • Parks & Rec departments
  • Schools and gyms
  • Churches and retirement communities
We build standalone courts or convert unused tennis or basketball courts into regulation pickleball layouts. We can also re-stripe, resurface, or expand your current setup.

How Much Does a Pickleball Court Cost?
Here’s what can affect the price:
  • Size and thickness of the slab
  • Soil conditions and drainage
  • Access to the site (tight spaces can add labor)
  • Surface coating system
  • Striping and colors
  • Add-ons (net systems, fencing, lights)
Maintenance & Longevity
Once we build it, you’re pretty much good to go for the long haul.
  • Sweep or blow off leaves and debris regularly
  • Pressure wash as needed
  • Recoat surface every 5–8 years
  • Repair minor cracks with flexible sealants
Concrete courts, unlike asphalt, don’t break down from heat or oils. They’re easy to care for and keep looking good for decades.
